Damnit, Jim! I'm a writer, not a content creator!

In case you haven’t caught on by now, I am horrible with coming up with content. I look around at what my peers are doing, and either decide I don’t like certain types of posts or trends, or just feel like I’m too boring.

As we approach the new year, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I want to conduct myself on socials—on how to reach my people. I’m not good with lip syncing. I’m not good with transition videos. I’m barely reasonable with static posts. I feel like I’ve tried just about everything, and couldn’t quite find what felt right.

Pre-pandemic, it was easier to create content. It was easier to build a platform. Things weren’t simple, by any means, but it wasn’t as complicated. Now, it’s like playing chess when everyone else is playing mahjong. Don’t post static—post carousels. No, wait, post statics with music. Wait, wait, wait, post all the reels you can—doesn’t matter what they’re about. But also post no more than three times a day or that’s too much, maybe.

What the fuck am I even doing???

Not only do I have no idea what’s “trending” most of the time, but the algorithm changes so frequently, it’s damn near impossible to keep up. If it wasn’t for other creators (da real MVPs) posting occasionally about all these changes, I’d be completely lost. I guess I only have myself to blame, it’s not like I can’t google it, but if I’m gonna be honest here—I’m a writer, not a social media manager or content creator.

Except…that’s exactly what I have to be these days, isn’t it? FML.

I know, I know, I’m bitching. *sigh*

Anyway…that brings me to what should have been an obvious conclusion, but I’m stubborn and make things harder than they need to be (have you even met me?)

Novel idea, amirite?

With that being said, my socials from now on will look a little different.

• What you see is what you get! Sorry not sorry.

• I’m boring af, but I’ll post about it anyway.

• I will post about my books (that’s kinda the whole point).

• My most unhinged comments will be on Threads (I’m funny sometimes)

• I will be so bad at reels, and you’re going to have to accept that.

• My ADHD brain doesn’t like aesthetics right now—random it is!

• NO FUCKING AI!!! Not now, not ever, period!!

A friend of mine is a hella bomb artist and she’s drawing up a piece for me of Lia, my FMC from The Awakening of Fate & Ruin. I’m so stoked to see it finished, but I’ll give you a sneak peek of our girl…
